Cycling
in
West Feliciana Parish
The hilly terrain, abundant wildlife and flora makes your cycling trip in West Feliciana Parish so unique to the rest of Louisiana. Add the historic plantations, scenic countryside and serene cemeteries; you will discover why biking enthusiasts keep coming back. Bike cycling in West Feliciana has even become more popular with the recent repaving of most parish roads. Visit FGPost's Basic Parish Bike Map but remember to obtain a more detail map before starting your journey.
Following is a sampling of biking events for the coming year. If your cycling club would like to be included on this page, email us at Bike@Where2Guide.com
Cycle Louisiana 2001 Events:
The Jones Vaughn Creek Road Race Series - Jackson, Louisiana
January 14, 2001; February 11, 2001; and March 11, 2001
A road race in January? Whose brainchild was that one? We are always open
to trying something new; we are hoping it might force us to actually train
some before the race. However, training is not necessary or required. The
race is only 45 miles, the course is rolling, and we hope it's cold (that
way we can pretend we are in Belgium). It should warm up in February and
March and the races should get faster as riders get in better shape. This
race is an open category format with an A, B, and C Race. The C race is 23
miles and designed for new racers. Registration information is posted at

Rouge-Roubaix III - St. Francisville, Louisiana
April 1, 2001
Not a race, but "This ain't no Sissy Ride!" We moved it from February to
April because a 95-mile death march should be little easier with a few miles
in our legs. The challenge to this ride is simply survival. Lumpy, bumpy,
dirt roads and smooth fast asphalt-a ride you will not forget! The
following link illustrates the ambiance (sort of like stabbing yourself in
the forehead with a fork, it feels good when you stop) of this ride:

Bike Fest 2001 - St. Francisville, Louisiana
May 5 & 6, 2001
We plan to expand last year's festival. Look for the Angola band, great
food, plenty of racing and a wide variety of options for recreational
riding.

Fall in the Felicianas - St. Francisville, Louisiana
September 8 & 9, 2000
Poker Run (Saturday)
Tunica Tango (Sunday)
The 2000 poker run was fun; 2001 will be even better. We think we know how
to work that poker thing now. And, the Tunica Tango (my favorite race)
returns! Surprisingly we didn't lose anyone during the inaugural version
and, better yet, I didn't get sued. We plan to run it again. This time it
will be an open category (all categories) format with an "A" and "B" Race.
This one hurts, just check with those that raced this year.
