Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge:
Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge was established in October 2000 as the 526th refuge in the National Wildlife Refuge System. The refuge was established to conserve, restore, and manage native forested wetland habitats for migratory birds, aquatic resources, and endangered and threatened plants and animals. |

Mary Ann Brown Preserve - Nature Conservancy
The Mary Ann Brown Preserve encompasses 109 acres rich in upland forest, wildlife and flora.
Several well-marked hiking trails, including a self-guided interpretive trail, provide a relaxing
adventure through slightly steep slopes, sandy bottom streams and easy walks on ridge tops. The Preserve is run by the Nature Conservancy. |

Port Hudson State Commemorative Area
Hike the six miles of well marked trails on this 899 acres of historic battlefield. Along the trails you will find three observation towers, an elevated boardwalk over the breastworks in the Fort Desperate Area, a museum, a picnic area and restrooms. And of course there are creeks, ponds, flora, and plenty of wildlife.
